Dropping Hints and Bits

Hey guys,

It's been a long time. I missed this blog.
For those who made new year resolution(s), I'm sure you are keeping up with it (them) *wink*. If not, It's all good. If you didn't make any, it's all good too. As for me, I should have made this blog resolution at the beginning of the year. Well, it's never too late to start. *smirks*
From here, we get down to business

Today's post is going to be on how i make my works. For those of you that wonder how I make them, here it is. A step by step process of how I do my artworks. First, I must say that I love the convenience working digitally on the computer with Adobe Photoshop 'cause it's just too cool. With a Wacom, it's even more cooler. it's AWESOME. *broad grin*

So I'm going to show you a step by step with pictures of how my process go. I'm not saying you should follow my process but this is the way i work better. This is my style, Everyone has their styles and I'd endeavour you to find your "style" that works/suits you better.

Usually, I start with a thumbnail. A small scribbling, or it could be bigger, that pinpoints how I want a cover, poster, page or even a panel to be. It serves a guideline on how it's going to turn out. How the characters are to be arranged, who/what is where and what they are doing. Sometimes, I just go straight to the board when i have the image in my head.

After that, I do a rough sketch

This is where i do my anatomy/structure check.
When everything is in order, i flesh out the lines into thicker lines. The line art part.

It gives the objects shapes and makes them come alive.
I still do the anatomy check just in case. You are never too perfect with it... lol

Now I'm done with the line art, i moved over to the painting.
There are several ways of painting, I shall put up some in my later posts, but in this post I chose a quicker technique.

First, I pick out the characters with one single colour. It could be the colour of their skin, clothes or a random colour as long as they are easily adjustable and don't conflict with the rest.

Then, I pick out every other thing. The clothes or any other instruments.
It starts to look good from here

After that comes the tricky part. Lights and Shades.
It's difficult understand that part because it comes with a lot of study. Study where the lights bounce off the item, where its shadow would be and so on but if you do understand it, congratulations! Big Thumbs Up!!
So i decided where the light(s) come from. It gives the image a more realistic feel and 3Dimension-ness(3D)

Now it looks good. There's one more thing to make it look even better. Effects (when needed).
That and background. The background helps bring the image out. It gives a more solid feel, makes it more beautiful too.

And that would be the finished work.

These are the steps I take when doing an artwork.
I work faster that way and i can take me 'bout 2-3 hours, or more, depending on the quality of the artwork. For this, it took lesser.

Yea, that's it for now.
Thanks for viewing my blog.
Leave a comment and hope to see you next time (You MUST come next time) *smile*

Have a great time and be cool... at all times
